Release timing

Fortnite seasons typically run 10-12 weeks. Based on the Season 3 launch date, Season 4 should arrive in late July or early August 2026. Epic usually confirms the exact date 3-5 days before the season transition, with a brief downtime window for the update.

What to expect

Every new Fortnite season brings:

• A new battle pass (950 V-Bucks, earns back 1,500 if completed)
• Map changes — new POIs, removed locations, terrain shifts
• New weapons and items entering the loot pool
• A seasonal theme that ties cosmetics, events, and map changes together
• Live events — Fortnite's signature spectacle moments

The theme

Season themes are Fortnite's biggest draws. Previous seasons have done superhero collabs, original storylines, and full map overhauls. Leakers typically surface the theme 1-2 weeks before launch, so expect concrete details soon.

F2P players: what matters

If you're free-to-play, the battle pass is still the best value in the game — complete it and you earn enough V-Bucks to buy the next one. The seasonal events are free and typically drop 300-500 V-Bucks worth of rewards.

Don't sleep on the free battle pass track. It's thinner than premium, but it still gives you cosmetics and V-Bucks every season.

How to prepare

• Finish your Season 3 battle pass before it expires — unclaimed rewards are gone forever
• Save your V-Bucks if you want day-one cosmetics in Season 4
• Watch for the live event that typically closes out the season — it's free and often changes the map permanently
