PUBG 33.2 update ships Rondo remaster and a new anti-cheat wave

Update 33.2 is live

PUBG's 33.2 update dropped this week with a major map remaster, a new anti-cheat wave, and the seasonal ranked split. The Rondo remaster is the headline change — it's the biggest map update the game has shipped in three years.

Rondo remaster

Rondo, the 8x8 km urban map from Update 22, gets a full remaster in 33.2. The changes:

• New biome blending — the urban and rural areas are now visually integrated. The map feels like one cohesive world rather than two distinct biomes.
• Revamped building interiors — the major cities (Rondoville, Banya, Tuskan) have redesigned interiors with more cover, more loot spawns, and more verticality.
• New POIs — three new points of interest added to the rural areas: a coastal town, a mountain resort, and an industrial park.
• Updated lighting and weather — the map's lighting and weather system is overhauled to match the modern Erangel and Miramar.

The new POIs are the most exciting change. The mountain resort, in particular, is a high-tier drop location with strong loot and a unique vertical layout.

For ranked players, the remaster changes the optimal drop rotations. The new POIs are likely to be hot-drop locations, which means the early-game meta will shift toward the rural rotations for the first two weeks.

Anti-cheat wave

The 33.2 update ships with a major anti-cheat wave. The new system:

• Kernel-level detection — the new anti-cheat runs at the kernel level, which catches more sophisticated cheats.
• Hardware fingerprinting — the system fingerprints the player's hardware, making it harder to bypass with a new account.
• Behavioural analysis — the system tracks player movement patterns and flags suspicious behaviour in real-time.

The anti-cheat wave is the third major update this year. The previous waves caught a significant number of cheaters, and the new wave is expected to catch even more.

For legitimate players, the new anti-cheat shouldn't cause any performance issues. The kernel-level detection is opt-in, and the system is designed to be invisible to honest players.

Ranked split

The 33.2 update includes the seasonal ranked split. The new split:

• Conquest is the new ranked mode. The mode replaces the previous Survival mode.
• Match structure — Conquest is a 3-round format where your team's combined score across the 3 rounds determines the match winner.
• Rewards — the season pass rewards are better than previous seasons, with a new weapon skin and a character skin at the top tier.

The Conquest mode is a significant change. The 3-round format rewards consistency over single-match luck. If you have a good round and a bad round, you can still win the match on the third round.

What to play first

• Rondo fans: The remaster is the standout change. Play the new POIs before the meta settles.
• Ranked players: The Conquest mode is the new competitive format. Get your placement games in.
• Casual players: The anti-cheat wave means the lobbies are cleaner than usual. This is a good patch to come back if you've been on a break.
