Warframe 1999 final act releases — what to expect from the conclusion of the biggest update
Warframe 1999's final act closes out the year-long storyline with new missions, a new Warframe, and the resolution of the Hex Syndicate arc. Here's what to play first.

1999 final act is here
Digital Extremes shipped the final act of Warframe 1999 this week, closing out the year-long storyline that began with the 1999 update in late 2025. The final act is a major content drop: new missions, a new Warframe, the resolution of the Hex Syndicate arc, and a few surprises for the long-time players.
New Warframe: Romana (Primed)
The new Warframe is Romana, the "lost sister" of the Hex Syndicate who appeared in the first act of 1999. Romana's kit is built around debuffs and the new Void Energy mechanic.
- Passive (Void-Touched) — Romana generates Void Energy by killing enemies. At 100 energy, her next ability is enhanced.
- Tactical (Hollow Lance) — A long-range projectile that pierces enemies and applies a damage vulnerability debuff.
- Ultimate (Hex's Wrath) — A massive AoE blast that scales with Void Energy stored.
Romana is the third 1999-themed Warframe in the game (after Arthur and Caliban). She's a top-tier pick for the new Hex-themed content and a strong frame in standard missions.
The Romana Prime is also available in this update. The Prime variant has a higher stat ceiling and a unique signature weapon.
New missions: The Hex Trials
The final act ships the Hex Trials, a 6-mission chain that concludes the 1999 storyline. The Trials are a mix of story missions and challenging combat encounters:
- Trial 1-3 — story missions with cutscenes. Solo-able, recommended MR 8+.
- Trial 4-6 — challenging combat missions with new enemy types. Squad recommended, MR 12+.
The Trials are gated behind a new quest called "The Final Hex," which is unlocked after you complete the original 1999 quest chain. The quest gives a new player-created Drifter skin as a reward.
The Hex Syndicate resolution
The final act resolves the Hex Syndicate storyline, which has been the central narrative of 1999. The resolution is a significant moment for the long-time Warframe players who have been following the story since the first act.
Spoiler-light summary: The Hex Syndicate is restored to its original form, the Drifter becomes a full member, and the 1999 timeline is closed. The new "Aftermath" content is a post-quest series of missions that play in the same setting but with a different narrative focus.
What to play first
For new players, the 1999 content is the best entry point in the game right now. The story is self-contained, the missions are well-paced, and the rewards are meaningful for the early game.
For veterans, the Hex Trials are the priority. The Trials are the first new hard content since 1999 launched, and they're a meaningful challenge at MR 18+.
For everyone, Romana is a strong addition to any roster. Her kit is powerful in solo and squad play, and the Void Energy mechanic is a fresh take on Warframe's energy system.
