Genshin Impact
The benchmark for the modern free-to-play open-world RPG. The exploration is the headline: every region has its own mechanics, story, and visual identity. Combat is built around elemental reactions, which keeps the encounters varied.
The monetization is gacha, but the gacha is fair:
- Free 5-stars are common enough that most players have a few without spending.
- The story is fully free, and the open-world content never asks for your wallet.
- Resin is the only meaningful time-gate, and it's relatively gentle.

Warframe

Lost Ark
