IEM Rio 2026
Intel Extreme Masters returns to Rio de Janeiro for the 2026 South American stop. Sixteen of the world's best Counter-Strike 2 teams battle across a Swiss-system group stage and a single-elimination playoff bracket for a $250,000 prize pool and a guaranteed spot at IEM Katowice 2027.

- **Group stage** (July 30 — August 1): Swiss system, 16 teams, 3 wins to advance, 3 losses eliminated. Best-of-3 matches, opening match BO1.
- **Playoffs** (August 2 — 3): Single-elimination, 8 teams, all matches best-of-3 except the Grand Final (best-of-5).
Why it matters
IEM Rio is the only S-tier event on the South American CS2 calendar. The Jeunesse Arena is the same venue that hosted the IEM Rio Major in 2023 — historically, the crowd is one of the loudest in esports. Brazilian teams (FURIA, paiN, Imperial) are heavily favored; the question is whether an EU or CIS team can break through in hostile territory.
