Genshin Impact 5.8 — banners, events, and what to save for

Genshin Impact's 5.8 update is live, bringing the final content drop before the next major version. New character banners, limited-time events, and continued Nod-Krai region changes headline the patch.

Banners

The 5.8 banner schedule follows HoYoverse's standard three-phase rotation. Check the in-game wish screen for exact dates, but the key question for F2P players is: what's worth pulling?

If you're sitting on a guaranteed 50/50 win, prioritize characters that fill a gap in your roster. A new support or sustain unit often provides more value than a second DPS.

Events

Limited-time events are the best Primogem source for F2P players. The 5.8 event lineup includes:

• A combat challenge event (typically 420-600 Primogems)
• An exploration/collection event
• The recurring login bonus (10 Intertwined Fates over the patch)

Do every event. They're the backbone of F2P pull income.

Nod-Krai changes

The Nod-Krai region continues to evolve with 5.8. Expect new world quests, exploration rewards, and lore drops that expand the nation's story. If you haven't finished the Nod-Krai Archon Quest chain, this is a good patch to catch up.

F2P pull strategy

With roughly 80-100 pulls of income per patch, F2P players need to be selective:

1. Don't pull on the standard banner. Ever.
2. Save for characters that fill a role gap, not just your favorites.
3. Track your pity. If you're at 70+ pulls on a limited banner, know that soft pity is coming.
4. Skip weapons unless you have a specific build in mind. Character banners give more value per pull.

What's next

Version 5.8 is the last update before the next major version number. Expect a significant content expansion — new region, new Archon Quest, and likely a new playable nation — in the coming weeks.
