Valorant Episode 14 Act 1 reveal — new agent, two new maps, the next battle pass

Riot's latest episode drops this week, and it's a meaningful one for ranked play. A new Initiator agent, two new maps, a fresh battle pass, and a ranked ladder reset are the headline changes.

New agent: Sable (Initiator)

The new agent is Sable, an Initiator with a kit designed around information control. Her abilities:

• Passive (Watchful Eye) — Sable sees enemy outlines through smoke for 2 seconds after she takes damage. The reveal is short but reliable.
• Tactical (Trap Net) — Sable places a hidden trap on a surface. When an enemy walks over it, they're revealed for 4 seconds and slowed.
• Ultimate (Crosshairs Locked) — Sable marks all enemies in her line of sight for 3 seconds. The marked enemies are visible to her whole team, even through walls.

Sable's kit is a pure information agent. She doesn't deal damage, but her reveal mechanics make her team much harder to ambush. The trap net is the strongest ability — a well-placed trap on a common path gives your team a 4-second warning of an incoming push.

The early verdict: Sable is a top-tier pick for coordinated teams. In solo queue, she's less effective because the trap and ultimate require team coordination to capitalize on the reveal.

Two new competitive maps

The episode ships two new competitive maps:

• Skyline — a 5v5 map with a vertical center. The map has three levels (low, mid, high) with teleporters connecting them. The high ground is the most contested area.
• Port — a 5v5 map with a coastal layout. The map has wide open angles and a smaller site area. Snipers are dominant on this map.

Both maps join the competitive rotation immediately. The unrated queue adds both maps, but the ranked queue adds them after a 2-week probationary period.

Battle pass

The new battle pass has the usual free and premium tracks. Free track has 2 weapon skins, 4 player cards, and a few sprays. Premium track ($10) has 5 weapon skins, 2 melee skins, 1 knife skin, and a Sable-themed player card.

The premium pass is a better value than the previous pass — the Sable knife skin is a standout. If you main Sable, the premium pass is worth the price.

Ranked reset

The episode reset hits the standard targets: your rank is reset, your MMR is recalibrated, and your placement games are the new baseline for the rest of the act.

For competitive players, the smart play is to grind the placement games in the first week. The lobby quality is most volatile in week 1, which means the easiest path to a season-high rank is to play when most players are still finding their new bracket.

What to queue first

• Sable mains: The new agent is the standout addition. Get your placement games in and start climbing with her.
• Skyline fans: The new map is a fresh ranked map. Play it before the meta settles.
• Port fans: The new coastal map is a sniper's paradise. If you main Operator, this is your map.

For casual players, the new agent is the most accessible content. The new maps will be in the unrated queue immediately, but expect a few weeks of disorganized matches while everyone learns the callouts.
